Nearly 4 decades ago, Dick Schweitzer opened up a Kirby Vacuum store in Sioux Falls, SD, known as Kirby Company East. A few years later, Dick expanded his original shop to include more than just Kirby products, and Dick’s Vacuum was born.

Dick Schweitzer retired in 1999, handing the keys to his store, and the legacy of honesty, hard work and quality customer service he had built, to Mitchell Jurgens. Having been with the company since 1993, Mitch knew what he was getting into, and dedicated himself to upholding the same solid business approach Sioux Falls customers had come to expect from Dick’s Vacuum.
